As the Founder and President of Financial Profiles, a strategic communications firm, Moira Conlon provides communications counsel to boards, managements and general counsels of public and private companies across industry sectors. Moira’s expertise includes investor and media relations and crisis and transaction communications. She has provided counsel to companies facing a wide variety of crises including activist investors, management transitions, data breaches, options backdating, litigation, and employee layoffs, among others.
Financial Profiles serves as public relations counsel for the Southern California Chapter of The National Association of Corporate Directors and has significant expertise in the full range of governance issues.
Prior to founding Financial Profiles in 2008, Moira held senior positions at Financial Relations Board and The Abernathy MacGregor Group and was an investment banker at Merrill Lynch. She graduated from Georgetown University and is a frequent speaker, author and guest lecturer on financial communications issues.
Sharon R. Klein (CIPP/US) is a partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group of Pepper Hamilton LLP. She is the partner in charge of the firm’s Orange County office and chair of the Privacy, Security and Data Protection Practice Group. She is co-chair of the Digital Health Practice Group and vice chair of the Technology Group. Sharon handles a variety of corporate and regulatory matters to help clients grow and succeed using technology, data and cloud services.
Sharon advises businesses on planning, drafting and implementing privacy, security and data protection policies and “best practices”; compliance with applicable laws, regulations and rules; and crisis management and litigation strategies for noncompliance. She is certified as an information privacy professional by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is a frequent writer and presenter on privacy, security and data protection matters.
Karl Pedersen is a Senior Advisor in the National Commercial E&O and Cyber Center of Excellence. As a Senior Advisor, Karl engages with clients throughout the country to advise them on their complex Cyber, E&O, media and intellectual property programs. Karl also serves as the West Zone Cyber and E&O Team Leader and Marsh Intellectual Property Product Leader.
Karl rejoined Marsh in 2016. Karl had been with Willis running the FINEX West Zone team as a national resource for E&O insurance and focusing on Cyber, media, technology and intellectual property risks and insurance placements. While at Willis, Karl developed the first risk management offering for global patents and trademarks (“PatentWize”).
Before Willis, Karl was with Marsh as a team leader for the Communications, Media and Technology Global Placement Team. Karl started his career with AIG as a Marine underwriter. While at Chubb, Karl gained additional underwriting experience after being cross- trained in Technology E&O, Property and General Liability. He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) Michael Sohn is currently leading a squad at the FBI Los Angeles Field Division that is responsible for investigating computer and high-technology crimes involving national security matters. Prior to his employment with the FBI, he worked as a Cyber Counterintelligence Officer for the Department of the Army, a Counter Terrorism officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency, a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton and a U.S. Army Officer. Mr. Sohn received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy, West Point and a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from Boston University, Boston.
Adam Waggoner is the Business Development Director of BDO’s Los Angeles office. He has over 19 years of experience working with CEOs and CFOs of public and private companies across various industries on branding, sales, business development, operations and analytics. Adam joined BDO two years ago and has been implemental in growing BDO in the Los Angeles market.
