For the past several weeks we have had the pleasure of working alongside the Conor Lynch Foundation to help promote its upcoming event, the Annual 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 26, 2014. The event is dedicated to raising awareness and promoting the safety of pedestrians, runners, cyclists, and young drivers.
The Foundation was established by Conor Lynch’s family to honor him and bring awareness. Conor Lynch was only 16 when he was working out with his cross country team and fatally struck by a car on October 19, 2010. The hit-and-run driver of the car was an unlicensed teen who was distracted and failed to yield while Conor was crossing the street. Ironically, this happened during National Teen Driver Safety Week. Financial Profiles has worked with Conor’s mother, Jeri Dye Lynch, President of Pinecrest Schools, as well as his father, Mark Lynch, a lawyer at Cypress, LLP. Financial Profiles is proud to be a sponsor of the Connor Lynch Foundation and its important cause.
As a way to raise awareness and promote pedestrian and road safety the Connor Lynch Foundation will host its 4th Annual 5K Run/Walk In Honor of Conor on Sunday, October 26. It will take place at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park, 14230 Magnolia Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91423. This year’s event will feature a 1K “Fun Run” for children under the age of 10, a safety fair, and raffle with prizes from local shops and restaurants. The theme of the event is “Super Safe Drivers,” so feel free to show up in costume or a cape, and dogs are also welcome. The race was a massive success last year, as more than 1,500 participants and volunteers came out to raise money for the nonprofit’s new and existing programs. The 5K Run/ Walk will cap off the 8th Annual National Teen Driver Safety Week, occurring October 19-25.
You can still sign up for all of the events. For the 5K, you can either register by Friday, October 24 at Active.com, or sign up the day of the race from 7:00 to 7:30 a.m. The expo opens and raffle begins around 7:00 am with the Run/Walk beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the “Fun Run” for the kids starting at 9:30 a.m.
